Survey CAD Technician

About the role

Sands Decker, a civil engineering and land surveying firm, is seeking an experienced Survey CAD Technician to work in our Columbus office. We're an innovative and technology driven company, and our Civil Engineering group is looking for an individual to join them in working on exciting projects with forward-thinking clients!

Responsibilities

• Preparation of field-to-finish CAD drawings and DTM surface generation within AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Development of topographic mapping, ALTA, and Boundary Surveys, R/W Plans, Survey Plats, Legal Descriptions, Construction Staking, Research and other various department tasks
• Technical support and data preparation for survey crews
• Uploading and downloading of data collectors
• Ability to read survey and construction plans and provide accurate survey information
• Obtain property research from internet sources and utility plan information from OUPS and municipal internet sites
• Coordinate with other design and survey technicians
• Visit sites to gather information relevant to the project

Requirements

• 2 years or more of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Current valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass a background check and drug testing (Ohio Drug-Free Workplace)
• Ability to work with outside contractors/clients in a team atmosphere
• Ability to work with others and as a team player
• Understanding of the need to complete work within deadlines
• Accountability and dependability
• Detail oriented with the ability to enter data accurately
• Good communication skills

Qualifications

• Experience obtaining property research from internet sources
• Experience obtaining utility plan information from OUPS and municipal internet sites
• Understanding of Ohio and local agency/authority requirements for preparation of survey documents
• Proficient with MS-Office products
• Some field experience is a plus
