About the Role
The Surveillance Agent II oversees Surveillance Agents on shift and monitors all activities occurring within the surveillance observation room. This role ensures the gaming operation complies with Commission regulations, internal controls, tribal-state compact, minimum internal controls, and other applicable regulations. The position involves preparing written reports for deviations and continuously developing surveillance skills.
Responsibilities
- Exercise Surveillance leadership with professionalism, reflecting the integrity and objectivity of the Yakama Nation Gaming Commission.
- Assign reviews to appropriate personnel and ensure completion.
- Report incidents of theft to the Surveillance Manager.
- Control the flow of sensitive information in and out of the Surveillance room.
- Develop and train Surveillance Agents in skills related to gaming, game protection, and loss prevention.
- Train new Agents in surveillance skills, game protection, cheat detection, and game procedures.
- Archive Daily Logs at the end of each month.
- Prepare a monthly Pace Audit Log with average Time and Motion calculations of hands per hour for each table games dealer.
- Prepare an updated blank Pace Audit book for Agents to complete monthly.
- Complete daily audits, dealer evaluations, and checklists.
- Conduct weekly/monthly checklists and/or risk assessments.
- Review and report variances over a determined amount occurring within the Gaming Facility.
- Maintain the evidence locker in an organized manner following proper evidence procedures.
- Conduct immediate reviews and prepare written reports of incidents within the Gaming Facility.
- Promote open communications with Operations management in a professional manner.
- Recommend and initiate additional camera positioning and adjustments to the Surveillance Manager.
- Promote the Yakama Nation Gaming Commission’s four core values and group norms.
- Recommend improvements to department procedures for operational efficiency.
- Maintain accountability for actions of self and team members.
- Explore methods of improvement for self and team members.
- Attend trainings to enhance leadership abilities, game protection skills, and implement learned methods/techniques.
- Operate the CCTV Surveillance system to monitor the gaming facility, ensuring the safety of assets, patrons, and employees.
- Detect and recognize theft, cheats, and scams through the CCTV system.
- Assist other divisions in investigations by actively monitoring incidents and conducting reviews.
- Facilitate management of the gaming operation by conducting immediate reviews of incidents.
- Prepare and review written reports regarding deviations from regulations, internal controls, or procedures.
- Review daily activity logs, pace audits, monitor logs, and pass-on logs for thoroughness and accuracy.
- Ensure agents complete written reports and save incident footage before the end of their shift.
- Keep agents on task for operational efficiency.
- Assist with maintaining shared drives as directed.
- Follow the chain of command.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three years of casino surveillance experience required.
- Governmental, gaming, or regulatory experience required.
- Must sign a Confidentiality, Code of Conduct, and Oath of Office Agreement.
- No prosecutions or previous charges for crimes involving illegal substances, theft, or related offenses.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and random drug tests.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check and an annual criminal background investigation.
- Upon termination, Surveillance personnel may not work in any capacity within the gaming operation for one year (exceptions at the Commission’s discretion).
- Upon termination, Surveillance personnel may not participate in gaming activities they surveyed for one year (exceptions at the Commission’s discretion).
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years of Surveillance Supervisory experience.
- Enrolled Yakama preference, though all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
Skills
- Knowledge of tribal, state, and federal laws and regulations related to the gaming industry.
- Knowledge of gaming activities including Craps, Roulette, Blackjack, Spanish 21, Three-card poker, Pai-gow, Let it Ride, 7 Card Stud Poker, Omaha Poker, Texas Hold'em Poker, Keno, Pull Tabs, Video Lottery Systems, and Bingo.
- Familiarity with computers and electronic data processing.
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to be self-motivated and motivate team members.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to monitor all gaming activities including Table Games, Poker, Keno, Pull Tabs, Video Lottery Systems, Cage Department, Food & Beverage Departments, Hotel, Back of House, Parking Lots, Event Center, and Bingo.
- Ability to train and work with all Surveillance staff.
- Ability to review and decipher complex information.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Schedule
This is a non-exempt position requiring non-traditional work hours, including shift work with rotations as deemed necessary by the Surveillance Manager.
