About the role
Performs technical skill duties in all operating room specialty service areas, ensures proper technical practices, maintains, assembles, handles, and sterilizes specialty instrumentation, assists RNs in the intra-operative phase, compiles accurate documentation, participates in orientation, staff development, and hospital committees, accepts on-call rotation, adheres to service principles focusing on innovation, service excellence, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Performs technical skill duties in all operating room specialty service areas
- Ensures proper technical practices are employed
- Maintains, assembles, handles, and sterilizes specialty instrumentation
- Assists RNs in the intra-operative phase
- Compiles accurate and complete documentation of surgical cases
- Participates in the orientation of new operating room personnel
- Participates in operating room staff development through in-service education programs, conferences, and research projects
- Participates in nursing/hospital committees as requested
- Accepts on-call rotation
- Performs job functions adhering to service principles with a customer service focus of innovation, service excellence, and teamwork
- Demonstrates knowledge of pertinent aspects and competency with protocols related to the use of chemical disinfection, high-level disinfection, and sterilization
Requirements
- High School education or equivalent and completion of a Surgical Technologist Program required
- Three years of experience as an operating room technician desirable
- Certification as surgical technologist is preferred
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED (Required)
- (CST) - Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
Skills
- Knowledge of pertinent aspects and competency with protocols related to the use of chemical disinfection, high-level disinfection, and sterilization
