Surgical Technologist (Night)

About the role

Performs technical skill duties in all operating room specialty service areas, ensures proper technical practices, maintains, assembles, handles, and sterilizes specialty instrumentation, assists RNs in the intra-operative phase, compiles accurate documentation, participates in orientation, staff development, and hospital committees, accepts on-call rotation, adheres to service principles focusing on innovation, service excellence, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Performs technical skill duties in all operating room specialty service areas
• Ensures proper technical practices are employed
• Maintains, assembles, handles, and sterilizes specialty instrumentation
• Assists RNs in the intra-operative phase
• Compiles accurate and complete documentation of surgical cases
• Participates in the orientation of new operating room personnel
• Participates in operating room staff development through in-service education programs, conferences, and research projects
• Participates in nursing/hospital committees as requested
• Accepts on-call rotation
• Performs job functions adhering to service principles with a customer service focus of innovation, service excellence, and teamwork
• Demonstrates knowledge of pertinent aspects and competency with protocols related to the use of chemical disinfection, high-level disinfection, and sterilization

Requirements

• High School education or equivalent and completion of a Surgical Technologist Program required
• Three years of experience as an operating room technician desirable
• Certification as surgical technologist is preferred
• Ability to react quickly to emergency situations

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED (Required)
• (CST) - Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting

Skills

• Knowledge of pertinent aspects and competency with protocols related to the use of chemical disinfection, high-level disinfection, and sterilization

Pay

$26.25 - $42.92 hourly
