Surgical Technologist Lead

Acts as the shift lead to staff and assists management with daily operations of the department. The Surgical Technologist is a member of the health care team who performs technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of a RN according to accepted clinical standards of care. Prepares equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room, and patients to ensure sterile field. Coordinates preparation or disposal of specimens, etc. Assists with inventory of sterile supplies. May assist in patient transport.

Requirements

• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program or LPN Technical Diploma and 2 years surgical technician experience
• OR completion of a military or hospital based training program with 5 years acute care Surgical Tech experience
• Surgical Tech Certification from NBSTSA or NCCT
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Specific Skills

• Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set-up
• Broad Knowledge of specialty procedures, instrumentation and equipment
• Interpersonal skills
