Qualifications
- A minimum of one year previous Surgical Technologist experience required.
- Experience with Cesarean sections preferred.
- Completion of a surgical technician program.
- Maintain certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or obtain certification within one year of employment.
- Maintain CPR, BLS validation and attend annual Validation Day.
Skills
- Knowledge of various surgical procedures.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and recognize problems encountered by the surgeon.
- Knowledge of name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
- Strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field.
- Knowledge and practice of basic care and patient safety concepts.
- Apply principles of asepsis for optimal patient care.
- Knowledge of OR emergency situations.
