Surgical Technologist - Labor And Delivery

Qualifications

• A minimum of one year previous Surgical Technologist experience required.
• Experience with Cesarean sections preferred.
• Completion of a surgical technician program.
• Maintain certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or obtain certification within one year of employment.
• Maintain CPR, BLS validation and attend annual Validation Day.

Skills

• Knowledge of various surgical procedures.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and recognize problems encountered by the surgeon.
• Knowledge of name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
• Strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field.
• Knowledge and practice of basic care and patient safety concepts.
• Apply principles of asepsis for optimal patient care.
• Knowledge of OR emergency situations.
