Surgical Technologist - Labor and Delivery

About the role

PRN Surgical Technician in Labor & Delivery responsible for assisting with surgical procedures, handling instruments, maintaining sterile fields, and supporting the surgical team.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in proper care, assembly, decontamination, and sterilization of surgical instruments.
• Scrub cases independently, ensuring adherence to sterile techniques and hospital policies.
• Anticipate the needs of surgeons and assist with instrumentation and procedure flow.
• Support circulating duties, including preparing medications and ensuring smooth operating room operations.
• Maintain safety protocols, including proper labeling of medications and applying precautions.

Qualifications & Skills

• Certified Surgical Technician (CST) and licensed through the state of VA.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, with instructor certification within 30 days.
• Knowledge of surgical anatomy, instrumentation, and procedures.
• Ability to scrub independently on various cases, anticipate needs, and work collaboratively with staff.
