About the role
Welcome to Orlando Ophthalmology Surgery Center. At Orlando Ophthalmology Surgery Center, we believe health and care are inseparable. Our technology allows surgeons to perform procedures in the specialty areas of: Cataract Surgery, Bladeless Cataract Surgery, LenSx Laser, ORA, Corneal Surgery, Glaucoma Treatment, and Oculoplastic Surgery.
Responsibilities
- Scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team.
- Maintains a sterile field during surgical procedures.
- Prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment related to these procedures.
- Supports the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Surgery Center.
- Supports and participates in quality improvement activities.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED; completion of a Surgical Technician Program and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certification as required by state and/or center.
- Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center is strongly preferred.
- Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient.
- Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation.
- Able to quickly adapt to changing conditions of the patient.
- Must excel in teamwork and possess strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff, engage with patients, and coordinate with physicians.

Required Skills
- Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma/GED; completion of a Scrub Technician Program. Certification preferable. Two years experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures for an operating room.
- Physical demands: The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, and hear. The employee shall regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996: Responsible for knowing the processes involved assuring the standards established by HIPAA, and ensuring they are followed including the practices and records relating to the use and disclosure of Protected Health Information.
