Responsibilities
- Participates as part of the surgical team in assisting nursing staff in support services necessary for safe and efficient care of patients within the various areas of surgical services.
- Aid in passing instruments and supplies to other members of the surgical team.
- Assist in acquiring, preparing, and equipping the surgical suites.
- Support non-surgical patient interventions under the direct supervision of a physician or RN.
- May serve as a Core Technician, maintaining sterile technique and providing supplies and instruments as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience: 1 year Surgical Technologist experience preferred.
- Education: Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program or completion of a military training program for surgical technologists. Alternatively, a high school diploma or equivalent, and 2 out of the last 3 years as a Surgical Technologist, may substitute for formal training.
- Licensure: All Employees must have American Heart Association approved BLS certification at hire. Oregon Employees require a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification with the State of Oregon at hire, or within 12 months of graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program. Waiver of the CST certification requirement is possible for certain candidates. Washington Employees must register as a Registered Surgical Technologist (RST) with the State of Washington at hire.
