Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Scrub surgical cases.
- Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up and functioning and seeks appropriate resource when necessary.
- Aids in the circulating role under the direct supervision of RN.
- Prepares for surgical cases in an efficient manner, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia provider and other OR team members.
- Provides a safe environment for patients and staff by adhering to standards of aseptic technique and department policy.
- Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, team members and ancillary staff.
- Participates in the performance improvement process and adheres to regulatory compliance throughout the organization.
Requirements
- Completion of Surgical Technology program or past comparable job experience.
- RN license to practice in State of Iowa.
- Strong understanding of aseptic technique in the operating room.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to surgical procedures.
- Prior experience in Orthopedics preferred.
- Ability to maintain a BLS qualification for Surg Tech, ACLS for RN.
- Ability to perform in situations requiring set limits, standards and strict adherence to established procedures and guidelines.
- Excellent data collection and documentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- Ability to maintain composure in emergency, critical and/or uncommon situations.
