About the role
As a Surgical Technician in our Operating Room, you will prepare surgical suites, assist during procedures, and ensure a smooth workflow to support exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities
- Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments.
- Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients.
- Passes instruments to physician during surgery.
- Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
- Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
- Ability to rapidly learn and navigate multiple software systems.
- Effective English communication skills (reading, writing, speaking).
- Ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
- High School Diploma REQUIRED.
Qualifications
- Surgical Technician Certification current and in good standing REQUIRED.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.

Schedule
Monday - Fridays, 40-hour weeks (Day shift).

North Alabama Medical Center, opened in 2018, is a 263-bed facility serving as a regional hub with over 200 physicians representing more than 42 specialty areas. It offers the community's only open-heart surgery site, a complete line of women's and children's services, and a full range of medical and imaging services. The hospital is a Certified Chest Pain Center with 24/7 cardiology coverage and is recognized as a Primary Stroke Center of Excellence. Its 24-hour emergency department serves as the primary referral center for major trauma cases in Northwest Alabama.
