About the role

Children's Wisconsin - Surgicenter is an outpatient surgery center that offers the latest technology. We perform a wide variety of outpatient surgical procedures, at a lower cost than the same procedures done at area hospitals.

• A medical staff of more than 150 surgeons who are board certified or eligible for certification
• Anesthesiologists who specialize in pediatric care
• Registered nurses certified in advanced cardiac life support and pediatric advanced life support; many of the registered nurses are certified in their areas of specialty, such as operating room and recovery room nursing
• Surgical technologists and assistants who are specially trained to assist the physicians
• Joint Commission certified

Location & schedule

Children's Surgery Center, 3223 S 103rd St, Milwaukee, WI 53227. 8 hours per week and availability to fill gaps in coverage as needed. No weekends. No holidays.

Responsibilities

• Function as a member of the surgical team who promotes safe patient care
• Prepare for surgical procedures and manage the sterile field
• Assist the surgeon by passing instruments/equipment and anticipating needs during surgical procedures
• Understand and supply instrumentation and equipment needs from neonatal to adult patients
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge and proficient practice in the first scrub role for most surgical procedures
• Assist with orientation of new personnel in the surgical technologist role

Requirements

• Completion of a surgical technologist program
• 2 years of surgical technologist experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Surgical Technologist Certification preferred
