Surgical Technician II - Surgery
About the role
Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the Surgical Technologist III participates as a member of the perioperative team, performing direct and indirect perioperative tasks for patients undergoing surgical and endoscopy procedures and assisting anesthesia personnel. The primary focus is the scrub person role, with responsibility for planning and provision of perioperative care for patients across adolescence, early, middle, and late adulthood.
Responsibilities
- Perform direct and indirect perioperative tasks for surgical and endoscopy patients.
- Assist anesthesia personnel during procedures.
- Act as the scrub person for a variety of procedures.
- Participate in planning and provision of perioperative care for patients of all adult age groups (adolescence through late adulthood).
- Work a flexible schedule as assigned by the Patient Care Manager.
- Cover weekend shifts on a rotating basis.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Diploma from an accredited surgical technology program or documented on‑the‑job training.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider certification.
- Minimum three years recent experience as a surgical technologist (typical experience 3‑5 years).
Skills
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, demanding environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Documented competency to scrub major procedures in at least five surgical specialties (qualifies for advancement to Surgical Technologist III).

Pay
Hourly pay range: $49.38 – $63.78 per hour. The range may vary based on geographic location. Total compensation includes experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs; base pay is one component of Sutter Health’s total rewards program.
Schedule
- Full‑time, non‑exempt position.
- 40 scheduled hours per week.
- 8‑hour shifts.
- Monday – Friday schedule.
- Weekend shifts assigned on a rotating basis.
