About the Role
Provides quality individualized patient care based on the application of scientific knowledge, surgical technologist education and interpersonal skills. Care is provided primarily during the intraoperative phase and also includes preoperative and postoperative phases of the patient's surgical experience.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates correct aseptic technique in creating and maintaining sterile field and demonstrates knowledge of principles of infection control in the Operating Room.
- Demonstrates ability to plan and direct work flow during surgical procedure. Anticipates sequence of intraoperative events to meet surgeon and patient needs.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform the role of first scrub on all surgical procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Code Cart location, contents including appropriate use of contents and equipment. Demonstrates knowledge of Surgical Tech role and responsibilities during a Code 99.
- Applies measures to ensure patient safety including performing sponge and sharps counts per policy, following surgical site marking and tourniquet use policies, proper use of the electrosurgical unit, power tools, and light sources.
Required Qualifications
- Associate in Surgical Technology
- 1 Year OR Scrub
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Preferred Qualifications
- Surgical Technologist Certification (CST)
Pay
The pay range for this position is $26.58 - $39.86. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
