Schedule: 4 days / 10hr shifts; 7am - 5:30pm with variable days of the week including weekends and holidays.
About the Role
The Surgical Technician I assists with the nursing care and preparation of surgical patients. Assists surgeons in the operating room by passing instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies. Performs job functions according to specific patient age and/or developmental needs. Works under the supervision of ST II, III, or IV in collaboration with the surgeon and circulating RN in the operating room suite. Demonstrates commitment to a patient and family-focused model of care. Adheres to all applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with nursing care and preparation of surgical patients.
- Pass instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies to surgeons in the operating room.
- Perform job functions according to specific patient age and/or developmental needs.
- Work under the supervision of Surgical Technicians II, III, or IV in collaboration with the surgeon and circulating RN.
- Demonstrate clear, concise, and professional communication to support safe and efficient operations in the surgical environment.
- Adhere to all applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Completion of Operating Room Technician Training Course or equivalent.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
Qualifications
- Some experience in the Operating Room (required).
- 1 year of Operating Room experience in a variety of surgical specialties (preferred).
