About the role

We are seeking a Surgical Technologist to provide intraoperative care to surgical patients. This role requires working in a fast-paced environment and adhering to strict aseptic techniques.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for cases according to surgeon's preferences and patient needs.
• Passes instruments to the surgeon and surgical assistant, maintaining the sterile field.
• Carefully arranges sterile setup for operations, including draping the patient.
• Assists with sponging, suctioning, and retractor positioning during surgery.
• Assists the circulating nurse in preparing the patient for surgery.
• May assist the Anesthesiologist during the induction phase of anesthesia.
• Adjusts lights and other equipment as needed.
• Moves the patient to a wheeled stretcher for recovery and transports them to the recovery room.
• Cleans and prepares the operating room after surgery, including disposing of used materials.
• Counts sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery.
• May prepare and preserve operative specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Shares pertinent data with colleagues and maintains specialty and preference cards.
• Sterilizes instruments and equipment using appropriate methods.
• Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
• At least one of the following must be met:
  • Employed in a healthcare facility as a surgical technologist prior to July 1, 2013.
  • Completed a surgical technologist training program in the military or other public service corps.
• One to two years of relevant experience in an operating room setting.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
