About the Role

Supports the surgeon and/or qualified first assistant during procedures by performing tasks such as sponging, suctioning, cutting sutures, holding retractors, and manipulating the endoscopic camera. Monitors conditions in the operating room, assesses needs of the patient and surgical team, and obtains additional instruments, supplies, and equipment as necessary. Supervises other healthcare team members in the surgical environment, providing orientation, training, and education to new personnel. Promotes a safe environment, takes appropriate action in emergency situations, and ensures adherence to regulatory standards and policies.

Responsibilities

• Supports the surgeon and/or qualified first assistant during procedures by performing tasks such as sponging, suctioning, cutting sutures, holding retractors, and manipulating the endoscopic camera.
• Maintains a sterile field and monitors conditions in the operating room, assessing needs of the patient and surgical team, and obtaining additional instruments, supplies, and equipment as necessary.
• Supervises other healthcare team members in the surgical environment, providing orientation, training, and education to new personnel.
• Promotes a safe environment, takes appropriate action in emergency situations, and ensures adherence to regulatory standards and policies.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivalent (Required)
• Technical/Vocational School (Required)
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) - RQI Resuscitation Quality Improvement (Required)
