The Surgical Technician positions at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital are dedicated to supporting the surgical teams in delivering cutting-edge medical care. These roles require a combination of technical skills, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons and professional nurses in operating room activities
• Pass instruments and equipment used in surgical procedures
• Ensure sterile technique and maintain equipment and instruments
• Communicate effectively with surgical team members
• Provide orientation and in-service training on specialized equipment
• Assist with advanced instrumentation and equipment supply
• Support the orientation of new Surgical Technicians

Requirements

• Demonstrated competency in sterile technique
• Knowledge of instrument sets and equipment maintenance
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Organizational skills
• Proficient in reading, writing, grammar, and math
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Licensure and certification: Current BLS provider card
• Education: Completion of accredited program for surgical technicians

Qualifications

• New grad with training in the surgery tech role
• Minimum 2 years current OR experience
• Completion of accredited program for surgical technicians
• Minimum 15 hours CEUs annually
• Advanced certification required
• Current BLS provider card
• Experience: 2 to 3 years current OR experience
