Responsibilities
The Surgical Technician is responsible for ensuring proper care and use of surgical instruments. Anticipates the needs of the surgical team. Establishes and maintains sterile field during surgical procedures in the operating room.
- Setting up the instruments and equipment that is required for the procedure
- Sterilizing equipment and taking an inventory to ensure there are enough supplies for surgery
- Preparing the patient for surgery
- Passing the Surgeon instruments and sterile supplies throughout the operation
- Taking a count of all surgical sponges and sharps prior to the operation
- Recounting surgical instruments and supplies at the end of the operation
- Maintaining an overall sterile environment throughout the surgery
- Stocking rooms, picking supplies for cases, assisting with departmental daily tasks.
Pay
- No Weekends/No Major Holidays/No Call Required
Schedule
- 10 hour shifts
Requirements
- High School Diploma / GED; completion of a Scrub Technician Certification Program.
- 1-2 years of operating room experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties, including Ortho.
- CST & BLS Certification.
