SURGICAL TECH III

Job Summary

You will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients. Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment.

Responsibilities

• Adapt quickly and collaborate effectively within the OR team.
• Contribute directly to the patient's healing process.
• Demonstrate advanced skills in operating room technology and proficient knowledge of surgical procedures.
• Consistently demonstrate proper care and handling of instruments and equipment according to AAMI/ANSI Standards.
• Consistently demonstrate the principles of aseptic technique according to AORN Guidelines for Perioperative Practice, FHMC policy and procedures, and the guidelines described in Universal Precautions.
• Handle blood and tissue specimens accurately and in a timely manner.
• Facilitate movement of the surgery schedule through timely room turnover, communicating with appropriate persons for case progress and delays, and consistently and accurately anticipating team needs.
• Identify and respond to urgent/emergent situations in a calm and efficient manner.
• Accepts assistance and direction, demonstrating sound judgment during emergency situations.
• Anticipate activities in the surgical procedure suite and according to surgeon preference, and accomplish work with speed, accuracy, and dexterity to expedite the surgical procedure.

Job Requirements

• Completion of Surgical Technologist training
• Completion of Certification as Surgical Technologist
• A minimum of three (3) years recent hospital experience in the capacity of a Surgical Technologist
• Certified Surgical Technologist CST or Technologist in Surgery-Certified TS-C
• Basic Life Support - CPR BLS
