Job Summary
You will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients. Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment.
Responsibilities
- Adapt quickly and collaborate effectively within the OR team.
- Contribute directly to the patient's healing process.
- Demonstrate advanced skills in operating room technology and proficient knowledge of surgical procedures.
- Consistently demonstrate proper care and handling of instruments and equipment according to AAMI/ANSI Standards.
- Consistently demonstrate the principles of aseptic technique according to AORN Guidelines for Perioperative Practice, FHMC policy and procedures, and the guidelines described in Universal Precautions.
- Handle blood and tissue specimens accurately and in a timely manner.
- Facilitate movement of the surgery schedule through timely room turnover, communicating with appropriate persons for case progress and delays, and consistently and accurately anticipating team needs.
- Identify and respond to urgent/emergent situations in a calm and efficient manner.
- Accepts assistance and direction, demonstrating sound judgment during emergency situations.
- Anticipate activities in the surgical procedure suite and according to surgeon preference, and accomplish work with speed, accuracy, and dexterity to expedite the surgical procedure.
Job Requirements
- Completion of Surgical Technologist training
- Completion of Certification as Surgical Technologist
- A minimum of three (3) years recent hospital experience in the capacity of a Surgical Technologist
- Certified Surgical Technologist CST or Technologist in Surgery-Certified TS-C
- Basic Life Support - CPR BLS
