Job Summary
Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Prepares surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and sterile solutions as well as appropriate sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
- Hands required/requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
- Maintains instruments in an organized manner and monitors/tracks instruments counts throughout procedures.
- Places equipment and supplies in the operating or labor & delivery rooms and arranges instruments according to preference cards.
- Cleans and checks equipment area.
- Holds retractors, cuts sutures, and performs other technical tasks as directed by surgeon during operation.
- Orders, stocks, and maintains supplies for the OR and C-section suites.
- Organizes in preparation for end of case and assists in clean up and turnover of rooms.
- Disposes of all sharps, biohazardous waste items appropriately.
- Handles specimens properly.
- Reports observations of changes in patient’s conditions and level of consciousness to an RN or LPN in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Minimum Requirements: Education - High School Diploma or GED. Completion of Surgical Technologists course from an accredited facility.
- Experience: Must be able to work variable shifts, holidays and/or weekends. Must be able to take call rotation when required. Must be able to perform all duties, including lifting and transferring, using proper body mechanics.
- Licensure/Certifications: BLS
- Preferred Requirements: Knowledge of hospital environment desired. Previous hospital and/or health care related experience preferred. Licensure/Certifications: CST (Certified Surgical Technologist)

Up to $10, 000 sign on bonus based on eligibility.
