Surgical Tech

About the role

Surgical technologists prepare the operating room, including the sterile field, set up surgical equipment, supplies, and solutions. During surgery, they pass instruments, fluids, and supplies to the surgeon and manage surgical equipment. They also maintain the sterile field and specimens, perform counts of sponges and supplies to prevent foreign retained objects, and are responsible for specimen management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and set up surgical equipment, supplies, and solutions
• Pass instruments, fluids, and supplies to the surgeon during surgery
• Manage surgical equipment and maintain the sterile field
• Perform counts of sponges and supplies to prevent foreign retained objects
• Manage specimens and specimen counts

Requirements

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification following completion of a CAAHEP-accredited program or other programmatically-accredited surgical technology program and passing the national Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) examination administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
• Must have 3+ years of experience with total joint and Davinci surgeries
• Cerner Experience Required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and Specialty Certification Required
