Surgical Support Aide - Operating Room

Job Summary

PeaceHealth is seeking a Surgical Support Aide - Operating Room for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position (0645-1715).

Essential Functions

• Assist in pulling instruments and supplies for surgical procedures.
• Set up equipment for surgical procedure.
• Order and restock inventory and supplies for department.
• Stock and put supplies away in individual operating rooms.
• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize equipment.
• Assists with clean-up and room turnover.
• Provide assistance with moving and lifting patients.
• Transport patients.
• Transport specimens to appropriate area/unit.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma
• Experience: Previous experience with sterile/aseptic techniques and Six months of patient care experience.
• Credentials: Certified Nurse Assistant - Oregon

Skills

• Well organized, detail oriented and self-motivated.
• Ability to coordinate activities and work collaboratively with others.
• Basic computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications.
• Understanding of operating room protocols.

Working Conditions

• Lifting: Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
• Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
• Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment (i.e. stretchers, wheelchairs, etc.).
• Frequent reaching/ grasping.
• Occasional bending/ stooping.
• Push/Pull: Frequently up to 25 lbs. force. Occasional up to 50 lbs. force.

Environmental Conditions

• Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
• Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

Mental/Visual

• Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
