Job Summary
PeaceHealth is seeking a Surgical Support Aide - Operating Room for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position (0645-1715).
Essential Functions
- Assist in pulling instruments and supplies for surgical procedures.
- Set up equipment for surgical procedure.
- Order and restock inventory and supplies for department.
- Stock and put supplies away in individual operating rooms.
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize equipment.
- Assists with clean-up and room turnover.
- Provide assistance with moving and lifting patients.
- Transport patients.
- Transport specimens to appropriate area/unit.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma
- Experience: Previous experience with sterile/aseptic techniques and Six months of patient care experience.
- Credentials: Certified Nurse Assistant - Oregon
Skills
- Well organized, detail oriented and self-motivated.
- Ability to coordinate activities and work collaboratively with others.
- Basic computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications.
- Understanding of operating room protocols.
Working Conditions
- Lifting: Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
- Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
- Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment (i.e. stretchers, wheelchairs, etc.).
- Frequent reaching/ grasping.
- Occasional bending/ stooping.
- Push/Pull: Frequently up to 25 lbs. force. Occasional up to 50 lbs. force.
Environmental Conditions
- Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
Mental/Visual
- Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
