About the Role

As a Surgical Services Manager RN, you will serve as a working manager responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Main OR and Scheduling. You will collaborate closely with OR personnel, anesthesiologists, and surgeons to maintain the physical plant and ensure effective department coverage. This role involves planning, directing, and controlling staffing assignments, conducting performance appraisals, and establishing employee goals. You will also participate in process improvement activities, budget and inventory control, and staff development while acting as a change agent through role modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of the Main OR and Scheduling.
  • Maintain the physical plant in collaboration with OR personnel, anesthesiologists, and surgeons.
  • Plan, direct, and control staffing assignments to ensure effective department coverage.
  • Conduct personnel performance appraisals and establish goals for each employee.
  • Participate in unit activities and operations, observing facility conditions and addressing potential problems.
  • Engage in process improvement activities and act as a change agent through role modeling.
  • Participate in budget and inventory control.
  • Support staff and self-development initiatives.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two years of experience in the OR.
  • One year in a charge nurse position in the OR.
