About the role

The Surgical Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of scheduling surgical procedures and daily operations of the facility, including material management and inventory control.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule all patient surgical and pre-operative appointments, including those with the patient’s primary care physician, surgical facility, ophthalmologist or technician, and Shared Care.
  • Counsel patients regarding all aspects of surgery including eye drop instructions, instructions for day of surgery, and post-operative instructions.
  • Collect all pertinent information for upcoming surgery, such as bookings, lens orders, insurance, H&Ps, and signed consent forms, and transfer to surgical facility.
  • Run accurate calculations as required, i.e. LASIK, RK, Toric, and other calculations as indicated.
  • Maintain the surgical schedule for assigned surgeons and address requests in a timely manner.
  • Answer all telephone inquiries from patients, their families, or primary care physicians and Shared Care doctors concerning surgery and/or related concerns.
  • Assist in the daily functions of the operating room for surgical cases.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • One year experience in a surgical specialty practice, ophthalmology preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organization with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates computer literacy.
  • Capable of meeting high volume of patient surgical scheduling.
  • Good attitude, professionalism, and ability to promote team cohesion.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Schedule

Monday - Thursday, 6AM to 5PM
