Responsibilities
Assists the Clinical Director in leading the patient care team to meet the needs of the customers and to oversee clinical operations to achieve departmental objectives. Assumes responsibility and accountability for the direction, implementation and evaluation of patient care services within the Perioperative Setting at the direction of the Clinical Director and in their absence.
- Actively coaches and supports staff. Assists the Clinical Director in providing a supportive environment for each team member’s professional growth and development.
- Continuously assesses the competency of all staff in conjunction with the Clinical Director and assists with written performance reviews as directed by the Clinical Director in a timely manner.
- Fosters a culture of shared decisions making by encouraging staff input regarding nursing practice and unit polices
- Assists the Clinical Director with the provision of adequate, competent staffing levels on each shift.
- Assists the Clinical Director in the oversight of the delivery of patient care ensuring adherence to service, safety and quality standards.
- Assists Clinical Director in nursing clinical operational efficiencies, as well as monitoring and evaluating the use of supplies, equipment, materials and other resources to reduce costs and increase efficiencies.
- Ensures equipment monitoring occurs at the required frequency. This includes but is not limited to refrigerators, freezers, autoclaves, defibrillators, trauma cart.
- Ensures documentation is completed appropriately and in a timely manner, and that documentation is properly archived.
- Attends all meetings as designated by the Clinical Director.
- Demonstrates basic clinical competency as a nurse within designated specialty area.
Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years experiences in a Perioperative support services role with relevant experience and knowledge of OR equipment
- Communication – Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and coworkers required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency of the NDNQI database for nursing sensitive indicators and others as required.
- Strong level of confidentiality due to the sensitivity of materials and information handled required.
- Computer literacy required.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills required.
- Good organizational skills to handle multiple priorities while remaining professional and calm required.
- Ability to work with many diverse people required.
- Effective telephone skills required.
- Written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills required.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in the realization of performance objectives and previous experience in performance-based evaluations required.

- Weekend, holiday, and call rotation required
