Surgical Scrub Tech, Procedure Center (Days, 8hrs)

About the role

The Surgical Scrub Technician II works under the direct supervision of the registered nursing staff, the physician/surgeon, and the anesthesia team to act as a primary scrub person. Handles surgical instruments, supplies, and necessary equipment during endoscopic and surgical procedures. The incumbent shall possess the ability to anticipate the needs of the physician/surgeon and has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure safe, quality patient care during operative/diagnostic procedures.

Performs delegated activities such as assisting in endoscopic, manometric, and diagnostic procedures (e.g., PH Probe, Bravo PH, PillCam). Can also assist in OB procedures. Responsible for the selection and setup of appropriate equipment in the Procedure Center/OR and outside of the department according to patient age-specific needs and physician's preference. May precept new Technicians and students. Takes emergency on-call shifts.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary scrub person during surgical and endoscopic procedures.
• Handle and manage surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Anticipate the needs of the physician/surgeon to ensure safe, quality patient care.
• Assist in endoscopic, manometric, and diagnostic procedures (e.g., PH Probe, Bravo PH, PillCam).
• Assist in OB procedures as needed.
• Select and set up appropriate equipment based on patient age-specific needs and physician preferences.
• Precept new Technicians and students in the department.
• Take emergency on-call shifts.

Requirements

• Minimum two (2) years of Surgical Technician experience.
• Preferred: Two (2) years of Operating Room experience.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred: Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or military service training.
• Completion of Endoscopy orientation program or surgery orientation program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Preferred: Operating Room Tech National Certification or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).

Work Environment

Pay

Pay Range:

• Minimum: $30.94 per hour
• Midpoint: $40.99 per hour
• Maximum: $51.05 per hour

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, and position requirements.
