Surgical Scrub Tech-Ambulatory Surgery Center
About the role
The Surgical Scrub Technician plays a key role in supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care within POA’s orthopaedic surgical suite. This role is responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining the sterile field, handling surgical instruments and supplies, and assisting the clinical team during procedures.
Responsibilities
- Support excellent surgical care by preparing instruments, equipment, supplies, and procedure rooms according to physician preference cards and approved surgical procedures.
- Protect the sterile field and patient safety by following aseptic technique, identifying and reporting breaks in sterile technique, confirming instruments and equipment are working properly, and assisting during surgical procedures under Registered Nurse (RN) supervision.
- Keep the surgical suite running smoothly by maintaining instrument and supply availability, updating preference cards, supporting inventory readiness, assisting with stocking and room turnover, and orienting new technicians to facility procedures as needed.
Requirements
- Two years of previous operating room experience required.
- Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) experience preferred.
- Orthopedic and/or podiatry surgical experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to scrub and assist across a variety of surgical procedures.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation, sterile field maintenance, and operating room procedures.
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, clinical staff, and leadership.
- Strong attention to detail, responsiveness, flexibility, and sound judgment in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certification.
- Completion of surgical scrub technician course.
- Surgical Scrub Technician certification required.
Benefits
OrthoNJ, LLC is required by New Jersey law to disclose the compensation range for this position. The hiring range for this role is $32/hr-$42/hr. Compensation is determined based on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, and geographic location. Certain roles may also be eligible for additional compensation, such as bonuses or incentive pay, as well as benefits.
