Surgical Scheduler - Outpatient

About the Role

This position involves managing outpatient surgical scheduling, coordinating with physicians and hospital departments to ensure efficient use of operating room (OR) time, and maintaining accurate patient and procedural records.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with staff and patients regarding surgical dates and preparation needs.
• Utilize hospital systems for accurate data entry and scheduling.
• Review OR block utilization, adjust schedules for changes or cancellations, and notify relevant parties.
• Verify patient eligibility, benefits, and obtain necessary authorizations and referrals.
• Finalize and distribute the surgical schedule, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Maintain records related to surgical bookings and assist with administrative tasks such as data entry and report preparation.
• Participate in team activities and mentor new employees.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training preferred.
• Two years of clinical or clerical experience in a medical setting, with surgical scheduling experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and data management skills.
• Ability to adapt schedules and ensure compliance with insurance and hospital policies.
