Duties and Responsibilities
- Cook, schedule, and provide surgical information to patients.
- Maintain and update current information on physician schedule ensuring the patients are scheduled properly and appointments are confirmed.
- Responsible for insurance verification, obtaining testing and surgical authorizations, and coding for all surgical procedures.
- Ensure all equipment, labs, medical clearances are ordered, received, reviewed, and patients are notified with a treatment plan in a timely manner; to ensure surgeries can proceed without delay.
- Make sure physicians have any documentation required for surgery based on the physicians’ protocols.
- Ensures that requests for medical information are handled promptly and effectively between all departments, hospitals, and surgery centers.
- Works with other staff to ensure efforts are coordinated and high-quality patient services are provided throughout the clinic.
- Maintains the strictest confidentiality.
- Stays abreast of and complies with all state and federal laws including HIPAA, ADA, OSHA, and FLSA.
- Adapts to change in a positive and professional manner.
Education, Experiences, Licenses, and Certifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- At least 1 years’ experience in a medical setting
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft Word Processing software.
- Must be able to talk or hear, stand, walk, sit, and type. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision.
