Responsibilities
- Tissue Recovery
- Performs the aseptic surgical recovery of tissues
- Qualifies donor for recovery
- Performs physical examination
- Performs donor blood draw and plasma dilution assessment
- Performs facility site assessment and prepares the site for recovery
- Performs donor reconstruction
- Packages and ships tissue to processors
- Maintains donor information in a confidential manner
- Communicates with the Family Care Center coordinator on shift and the Supervisor-on-Call (as appropriate)
- Responds timely to chart corrections
- Maintains donor information in a confidential manner by complying with HIPAA requirements and respecting the donation process in a way that honors the gift of donation
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in compliance with OneLegacy policies and procedures, the standards and regulations as outlined by the FDA, AATB, EBAA, CMS, UNOS, and other applicable federal, state and local laws
- Donor Receiving and Releasing
- Aids in logistics and coordination of the transportation of donors to a OneLegacy facility for recovery
- Assists with receiving and releasing donors in the OneLegacy Recover Facility from partners such as but not limited to transport companies, coroner offices, or funeral homes
- Surgical Technologist Support (OR Scrub)
- Aseptically sets up the OR (surgical recovery room) for the Organ Recovery and breaks down the OR
- Performs surgical prep and drape of the donor
- Hands off instruments and supplies to surgeons during the organ recovery
- Verifies the Authorization and organs to be recovered
- Assists the surgeons as needed or directed
- Assembles and ensures all pertinent documents remain in the donor chart following completion of the recovery
- Documents the recovery process in the Electronic Medical Records system
- Research Tissue/Organ or Specialty Graft Recovery
- Recovers organs or tissue for research according to researcher protocol

- Facility Maintenance and Cleaning and Materials Management
- Performs facility cleaning and maintenance such as but not limited to cleaning, disinfecting, and mopping in the Supply Depot, Recovery OR, Morgue, Pre-Prep Staging room, tissue shipping/lab room, coroner office recovery suite, and other areas as needed
- Maintains inventory of clinical supplies to support day-to-day operations
- Maintains inventory of administrative supplies to support day-to-day operations
- Removes trash to exterior waste receptacles and maintains the cleanliness of the office space
- Assists Central Supply department with instrument cleaning, decontamination, sterilization and inventory management as needed
- Case Coordination/Logistics/Case Set-up
- Activates recovery team for recovery
- Performs pre-recovery time out
- Sets up transportation of donor
- Obtains CME release for recovery
- Screens and offers tissue donor to processors
- Reviews post-tissue recovery documentation
- Participates on tissue recovery will performing case coordination and logistics
- Participates in other logistical tasks as instructed by management for the purposes of facilitating tissue donation
Requirements
- Education: Completion of an EMT program, completion of a Surgical Technologist program, current or previous licensure as a paramedic, previous experience in tissue or organ recoveries, experience in an allied health field such as (embalming, physiology, anatomy, mortuary sciences, surgical, EMS, EMT, ER Technologist, paramedic, pathology, nursing), CEBT or CTBS Certifications, or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
- Experience: Experience in an allied health field such as (physiology, anatomy, mortuary sciences, surgical, EMS, EMT, ER Technologist, paramedic, pathology, nursing)
- Requirement: OneLegacy requires employees to maintain a current California driver’s license and current vehicle insurance. Employee must be able to pass a local government agency/coroner’s office background check
Salary Range
$52,325.00 - $56,875.00 Night Shift differential available
