Surgical / OR Tech II
About the role
The surgical technician will collaborate with the perioperative registered nurse to organize and administer individualized age-specific care to patients, maintain an environment conducive to safe patient outcomes, and ensure that the patient's physiological responses to surgery align with expectations within the surgical suite and across the perioperative division.
Responsibilities
- Function as a member of the surgical team to provide organized and personalized care to patients
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment for patient care
- Administer care that meets the specific needs of patients undergoing various surgical procedures
- Work closely with the perioperative registered nurse to ensure patient safety and comfort
- Perform tasks related to the preparation and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment
- Assist with the setup and teardown of operating rooms
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families to ensure they understand their care plan
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies and procedures
- Make phone calls as necessary to coordinate care and communicate with other healthcare providers
- Be flexible, capable of multitasking, and able to work independently
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an OR technician training program
- 2-3 years of experience
- Strong knowledge of surgical techniques, particularly in areas like robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases, and trauma
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to make phone calls and be flexible, capable of multitasking, and working independently
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technician
- Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification from the American Heart Association
Skills
Must possess strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in using surgical instruments and equipment is essential.

Pay and Schedule
The anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey is $30.65 - $37.58 per hour. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including educational background, skills, and professional experience.

Scheduling Requirements: 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm, Every other weekend and Holiday
