Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates interdepartmental interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Works effectively with management and staff.
  • Offers constructive suggestions at staff meetings for utilization of supplies.
  • Demonstrates positive regard for changes.
  • Reviews surgical schedule daily with OR Service Line Coordinator to anticipate inventory needs.
  • Participates in 2:00 pm OR Huddle.
  • Participates in weekly inventory meeting.
  • Controls Operating Room inventory- direct and outside.
  • Makes regular rounds in surgical suite and of specialty carts to anticipate inventory needs.
  • Informs Nurse Managers and Director of Surgical Services and Service Line Coordinators of problem areas.
  • Orders stock via Meditech.
  • Maintains correct locations for supplies in Meditech.
  • Counts OR Inventory once a year.
  • Clocks Operating Room inventory.
  • Coordinates development of departmental inventory levels of supplies and equipment.
  • Stock shelves to assure appropriate inventory/par levels are consistently met.
  • Complies with accreditation and regulatory bodies and commissions in relation to OR Materials Management.
  • Makes decisions based on experience and knowledge of supplies.
  • Responds to Materials Management.
  • Follows up on back orders.
  • Performs all responsibilities required by Materials to assure unique nature of client is addressed.
  • Participates in projects or committees as volunteered or assigned.
  • Responsible for providing appropriate and timely delivery of supplies and equipment.
  • Works with BioMed department to assure all patient care equipment has preventive maintenance performed according to inspection schedule and along with coordination of repairs.
  • In coordination with BioMed assists in the delivery retrieval, and tracking of equipment.
  • Available by wireless telephone during work hours to respond to the needs of the OR and CPD.
  • Maintains Tissue Log for all Tissue and needs to be tracked according to FDA.
  • Completes Tissue Tracking Forms.
  • Enters Tissue into log upon arrival.
  • Maintains tissue tracking system.
  • Serves as a member of the hospital Products & Standards Committee and other projects or committees as volunteered or assigned.
  • Clocks yearly IR and CPD Inventory.
  • Prepares count sheets to ensure all items and locations are correct.
  • eviews count sheets to ensure all items and locations are correct.
  • Collaborates with Service Line Coordinators and staff to establish schedule for counts.
  • Ensures all counts are correct.
  • Inputs counts onto excel count sheets to establish $ for each location.
  • Clocks Inventory Audits with Finace Department.
  • Works with Finance after audits to justify/explain variances from past year.
  • Safety Awareness - fosters a "Culture of Safety" through personal ownership and commitment to a safe environment.
  • Understands individual roles/responsibilities during hospital codes (e.g., Code Green, Code Red).
  • Follows all CDC guidelines for Universal Precautions when handling soiled equipment, instruments and supplies.
  • Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job related hazards.
  • Successfully answers safety questions in annual mandatory education program.
  • Utilizes proper body mechanics when performing all aspects of job.
  • Operates equipment safely.
  • Maintains a neat, organized work environment.
  • Knows where to find material safety data sheets (MSDS) for items used to perform job.
  • Adheres to respiratory etiquette guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education - Preferred High school diploma. Associates Degree or equivalent desirable.
  • Minimum Work Experience A minimum of three (3) years materials or central services experience preferred.

Compensation

Pay Range: $24.35 - $34.10
