Responsibilities
- Cook up and schedule surgical procedures by teaming up with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and patients to ensure efficient use of operating rooms.
- Manage preoperative documentation, like confirming patient info, insurance approvals, and surgical consents to stick to healthcare rules.
- Serve as a go-between for patients and clinical teams, giving timely updates, answering questions, and helping out with smooth surgical experiences.
- Maintain surgical case progress, fixing any scheduling issues or changes quickly to avoid delays.
- Keep accurate records of surgical schedules, patient data, and communication logs using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent; an associate's degree or higher in a healthcare-related field preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years experience in surgical coordination or a related healthcare administrative role.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and scheduling software.
- A strong understanding of surgical procedures, medical terminology, and healthcare compliance requirements.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
