Responsibilities
- Transports patients and equipment using appropriate standard precautions.
- Cleans and makes ready beds, stretchers and wheelchairs for patient transfer.
- Presents self to other staff, patients, families and visitors in a warm, receptive manner.
- Provides direction and information to patients and family members.
- Identifies and obtains language translation as needed.
- Aids in surgical patient positioning, transfer, cast application and removal under the direction of the RN.
- Retrieves and delivers items to other departments.
- Responds promptly to assignments and requests.
- Affords assistance to nursing staff in maintaining high standards of nursing practice by facilitating a prompt response to patient needs.
- Restocks supplies, cleans/defrosts refrigerators, cleans equipment and maintains an orderly environment.
- Affirms patient transfer and transport equipment is functioning properly.
- Functions as a surgical team member.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: 1 year of experience in a hospital setting preferred.
- Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: BLS required.
