Surgery
The Surgery team at MedVet is a fast-paced environment designed for technicians who are eager to gain experience across various departments and interact with other hospital teams. This position requires strong communication skills to liaise between surgeons and clients and to provide post-operative care instructions.
- Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, and maintain medical records
- Invoicing, patient discharges, and scheduling appointments
- Create patient releases, discuss treatment plans, and manage financial obligations
- Prepare patients for surgery, including shaving, scrubbing, and positioning, assist with intubation and radiographs
- Perform blood draws and submit bloodwork
- Ensure all documentation is accurate and complete
- Open, turn over, and clean operating rooms, as well as clean and wrap surgical instruments
Qualifications
- State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred
- Prior veterinary experience required, with previous surgery experience desired
- Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
- Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
