Surgery CVT

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of veterinary technician experience
• Wisconsin Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) required
• Surgical or anesthesia experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and within a team

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable surgical patients in accordance with hospital standards
• Perform physical exams, including accurate assessment of TPR, mucous membranes, and capillary refill time
• Maintain sterile technique and assist with surgical preparation
• Assist with anesthesia, including induction, monitoring, and recovery
• Administer subcutaneous fluids and monitor for signs of fluid overload
• Place peripheral IV catheters and manage fluid therapy
• Set up and troubleshoot IV fluid pumps
• Support post-operative patient care and client communication

Core Skills & Experience

• Anesthesia administration, monitoring, and recovery
• Surgical support and sterile technique
• Medical math, including CRI setup
• Venipuncture and catheter placement (IV, NG/NE)
• Recognition of abnormal heart/lung sounds and vital parameters
• Operation of anesthesia and IV fluid equipment
• Basic bandaging and post-op care
