About the Role
The Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Penn State Health seeks a Surgeon-Scientist to serve as Vice Chair of Research. The selected candidate will be an independent clinician scientist with active research interests, technical expertise, and a track record of extramural funding. Responsibilities include running an independent research program and clinical practice, mentoring faculty and trainee researchers, developing collaborative programs within the Department and Institution, and growing the Department's research and grant portfolio.

Faculty, residents, and students are actively engaged in research projects spanning clinical trials, translational research, surgical innovation, and training the next generation of leaders in the field.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow the research program of the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery
- Run an independent research program and maintain a clinical practice
- Mentor faculty and trainee researchers
- Develop collaborative programs within the Department and Institution
- Grow the Department's research and grant portfolio
- Participate in resident and medical student education
Requirements
- M.D., M.D./Ph.D., D.O., or foreign equivalent
- Completion of an accredited training program
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Otolaryngology
- Track record of robust research, publication, and funding
- Ability to acquire a license to practice in the State of Pennsylvania
