Surety Underwriting Specialist (Seattle WA, Lonetree, CO or Alpharetta, GA)

Summary

Under limited direction, independently underwrites and markets assigned products by providing high levels of risk assessment and technical underwriting expertise to determine underwriting acceptability. A typical day will include the following:

• Prepares and participates in marketing activities for business development and relationship building
• Participates in the producer management process which may include but is not limited to, premium collections
• Prepares and participates in proposals to producers and/or accounts negotiating terms and conditions
• Cleanses and applies appropriate underwriting techniques necessary to make an accurate evaluation of risk acceptability
• Prepares underwriting submissions, making recommendations and/or decisions within established authority limits
• May ensure credit quality of accounts managed while maintaining and updating underwriting files

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
• Minimum 5 years’ related Surety UW experience within P&C Commercial Insurance
• AFSB Designation preferred
