About the role
The Planner Estimator will operate at the Big Bend power station under the supervision of the Manager, Construction/Manager Planning & Contractor Services. They are responsible for coordinating, planning, and scheduling all capital projects, outages, and maintenance activities in a cost-effective manner.
Responsibilities
- Scope, plan, and estimate contractor work in accordance with the procedure for “Planning Contracted Work” ES-CM-100. Ensure work packages are complete.
- Maintain and communicate project schedules (daily, weekly, outage work, etc.) to all stakeholders.
- Monitor and reduce overtime usage, and proactively explore productivity improvements.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the Planning Associate position regarding planning and scheduling contractor work.
- Review and approve invoices for planned work, and route them for further authorization as required.
- Perform any additional duties or special assignments as assigned by the E & PM Manager, Construction.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years as a Planner Estimator I; or minimum of 6 years of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position.
- Progressively more complex assignments in scheduling, planning, and tracking maintenance work and equipment in a power plant or heavy industrial facility.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- College Degree in Business, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Building Construction, or related field from an accredited institution preferred.
Skills
- Proficient knowledge of work management systems related to planning, scheduling, and tracking maintenance work and equipment in a power plant or heavy industrial facility.
- Demonstrated clear understanding of maintenance and outage management best practices and procedures with the ability to develop and maintain KPI metrics and POW schedules.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to gather and communicate information using various reporting methods.

Storm Duty Requirements
Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment. Must have the ability to obtain a passport and travel by air.
Physical Demands/Requirements
Must be able to perform inspections in power plant locations. Requires the ability to climb stairs, ladders, enter confined spaces, and work at heights.
