About the role

The Sterile Processing OR Supervisor ensures that the instrumentation and equipment needs of surgeons and OR staff are met daily. They also focus on improving OR efficiencies, enhancing communication between SPD and OR teams, and increasing surgical case volume and surgeon satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Assist team leads with department operations in the absence of the Manager.
• Liaise to drive process improvements impacting OR efficiencies.
• Improve communication between SPD and OR teams.
• Increase capacity for surgical case volume and surgeon satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, Associate's degree preferred.
• Skills: Knowledge in all aspects of supply/equipment processing, including surgical instrumentation; manual dexterity, computer skills, ability to work under pressure; proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel; knowledge in the use of autoclave, steris, washer/disinfection, sterrad, etc.; effective oral and written communication skills; ability to read, spell, do simple math, write clearly, understand written and oral instructions; ability to work closely with others in positive ways; proficiency with functions in a SPD environment; proficiency at critical thinking in a SPD environment; proficiency with technical skills in a SPD environment.
• Licenses/Certifications: Pass and maintain Central Service Certification (CBSPD or IAHCSMM) within 6 months of hire date. Preferred: One or more years of Central Service Certification (CBSPD or IAHCSMM) and Surgical Technologist Certification.
• Experience: 3-5 years sterile processing or equivalent OR experience, 3-5 years Level 1 Trauma Center SPD or equivalent OR experience, at least two years of supervisory experience.
