General Summary of Position
Oversees the activities of the hospital's central supply personnel regarding stocking and furnishing of sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Assists in selecting, training, and assigning department staff.
- Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, and conducts performance management planning.
- Initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.
- Maintains ongoing communication with office staff to review programs, provide feedback, discuss new developments, and exchange information.
- Aids in the development of department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
- Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental and accreditation regulations.
- Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.
- Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
- Creates policies and procedures for inventory control and issuance of supplies and equipment.
- Directs the requisitioning, sorting, labeling, and issuing of equipment.
- Maintains inventory records and submits requisitions to ensure adequate supply levels are kept on hand.
- Oversees sterilization, assembly, and storage of medical supplies and equipment.
- Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts as required.
- Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supervises the maintenance and preparation of records, files, and other documents.
Minimal Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in healthcare field preferred.
- Experience: 3-4 years supervisory experience in sterile processing required; equivalent sterile processing technician experience required.
- Licenses and Certifications: CRCST (Certified and Registered Central Service Technician) certification and/or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) certification upon hire; must maintain annual continuing education credits to maintain certification status.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
Pay
USD $58,656.00 - USD $98,384.00 /Yr.
