About The Job

General Summary of Position

Oversees the activities of the hospital's central supply personnel regarding stocking and furnishing of sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assists in selecting, training, and assigning department staff.
  • Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, and conducts performance management planning.
  • Initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with office staff to review programs, provide feedback, discuss new developments, and exchange information.
  • Aids in the development of department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.
  • Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Creates policies and procedures for inventory control and issuance of supplies and equipment.
  • Directs the requisitioning, sorting, labeling, and issuing of equipment.
  • Maintains inventory records and submits requisitions to ensure adequate supply levels are kept on hand.
  • Oversees sterilization, assembly, and storage of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts as required.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supervises the maintenance and preparation of records, files, and other documents.

Minimal Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in healthcare field preferred.
  • Experience: 3-4 years supervisory experience in sterile processing required; equivalent sterile processing technician experience required.
  • Licenses and Certifications: CRCST (Certified and Registered Central Service Technician) certification and/or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) certification upon hire; must maintain annual continuing education credits to maintain certification status.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.

Pay

USD $58,656.00 - USD $98,384.00 /Yr.
