Job Summary
The Plant Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the aggregate plant, ensuring efficient production and compliance with environmental regulations. They assist the Plant Manager in mine development through stripping & reclamation operations, focusing on safety and operational efficiency.
Essential Functions
- Supervises activities of hourly employees conducting land stripping & reclamation functions.
- May perform hands-on repair work when necessary.
- Maintains good planning and prioritization skills, scheduling to meet budget parameters.
- Participates in the recruitment process, including screening and hiring hourly employees.
- Schedules department requirements to support daily, weekly, and monthly activities.
- Provides/assists with coaching and disciplinary counseling to employees.
- Ensures employees receive proper training and instructions.
- Schedules and assigns employee work based on production needs.
- Works with SHE department and Company officials to promote a safe work environment.
- Works closely with plant management personnel to ensure mine development & reclamation activities meet their needs and expectations.
- Participates in cost-saving programs and continuous improvement activities.
- Participates in Operations short and long-range business planning.
- Participates in department inspections on a regular basis.
- Maintains plant equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and repairs.

Education and Experience
- Education: High School Diploma required. BS/BA degree, Associates degree, or equivalent combination of training and work experience preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years experience in conducting land stripping & reclamation activities. One year of supervisory experience is preferred. Construction materials industry experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge: Modern principles and practices of supervising employees, all phases of mine development, OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations.
- Skills: Strong organizational and business planning skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, ability to use computerized equipment and technology.
- Absolutely Required: Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand, sit, and walk for long periods, drive a pick-up truck, use computerized equipment, wear required PPE, and work in a stressful, deadline-oriented environment.
Other Requirements
- Ability to work in an office setting and outside in the quarry or plant.
- Exposure to dust, fumes, gases, unprotected heights, moving machinery, changes in temperature/humidity, uneven surfaces, and required PPE.
