Responsibilities
- Supervises the Outreach Patient Service Centers and the Phlebotomy staff.
- Works Collaboratively with the Management team to ensure staff training, set-up, implementation and maintenance of Brown University Health laboratories patient Service Centers, and Customer Service Standards are in compliance with all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Is responsible for supervising and overseeing the physical conditions of all Patient Service Centers to ensure full compliance with all Department of Health and College of American Pathologists (CAP) regulation requirements.
- Makes regularly scheduled visits to all Patients Services Centers.
- Makes unscheduled visits within routine schedule of visits to Patient Service Centers to ensure that the operation is running in accordance to hospital and department policies and procedures.
- Evaluates staffing against volume at laboratory sites for cost effective operations; makes staffing recommendations.
- Maintains monthly check list of all Patient Service Center facilities and provides feedback to the appropriate operations manager in circumstances where appropriate action is necessary.
- Buys forth and reviews all corrective action necessary working in collaboration with outreach Management team communicating any necessary requirements and/or recommendations based on routine site inspections whether facility or staff related.
- Supports Outreach Service Manager with annual performance evaluations.
- Provides written documentation on monthly basis to Outreach Managers confirming any and all concerns have been addressed and rectified.
- Develops and maintains a variety of records such as the Patient Service Center checklist, phlebotomy compliance assessment monthly report, etc.
- Provides feedback on issues and concerns related to the phlebotomists and/or Patient Service Centers and uses the information to improve customer, client and operational satisfaction.
- Provides input to the development and/or revision of policies and procedures for the phlebotomy program and ensures implementation and adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as required
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Laboratory Science preferred, or equivalent work experience with specialized training in phlebotomy and familiarity with Clinical Laboratory testing.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skill set necessary to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, including staff, physicians, administrators and management.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Analytical ability to solve system related issues.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
- Experience: Five years’ supervisory experience in commercial laboratory services or hospital outreach services.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Healthcare environment such as acute care hospitals, physicians’ offices and ancillary healthcare enterprises. Works with medical equipment and has direct patient contact. Any potential hazards are minimized or nullified by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions including use safety equipment and protective clothing.
