Supervisor Laboratory Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the general supervision of the Director of Laboratory Services and the Laboratory Manager, the Laboratory Supervisor assists in providing overall direction of the Laboratory on their scheduled shift.
- Responsible for the overall operation of the shift.
- Ensures the accurate and timely reporting of patient results.
- Reviews laboratory report copies.
- Documents, corrects, and discusses with appropriate individuals any erroneous reports.
- Aids in preparing work schedules to provide optimal staff coverage, minimal overtime, and allow technical personnel to maintain proficiency by rotating through various departments.
- Maintains adequate inventory of section supplies.
- Maintains and signs all laboratory quality control records.
- Identifies quality control problems and works to resolve them along with the appropriate departmental personnel.
- Aids in implementing and overseeing performance improvement monitors.
- Aids in completing performance appraisals on a timely basis in conjunction with the Director of Laboratory Services or Laboratory Manager.
Qualifications
- (MLS) Medical Laboratory Scientist, or (H-ASCP) Technologist in Hematology, or (SH-ASCP) Specialist in Hematology
- No travel required
- 1 year(s) experience required
