SUPV COMMUNICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a criminal justice environment. College-level education may substitute for related experience on a year-for-year basis. Preference given to candidates with two years of college and/or previous public safety communications experience.

Must be certified through the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) with a full certification as a Terminal Agency Coordinator within a six-month probationary period. Must obtain Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) certification within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Trains and supervises personnel engaged in receiving and dispatching police services requests.
• Coordinates the exchange of crime information data and monitors unit operating budget.
• Assigns work to and supervises unit employees, ensuring day-to-day activities are completed efficiently and cost-effectively within established policies and procedures.
• Coaches personnel on proper performance of work, frequently providing direct technical assistance.
• Plans, monitors, evaluates, and develops employee performance to maximize potential and maintain a high-performance environment.
• Performs work that substantially affects business operations.
• Performs other related duties as assigned, including Transit Ambassador assignments.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Directly supervises the staff of the Communications Unit.

Schedule

Required to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and special events.

Pay

Salary Range: $55,843 – $83,765

Special Requirements

• An official investigation into applicants’ background will be conducted, including a criminal history records check.
• A physical examination, including drug/alcohol screen, will be required.
