SUPV BUS MAINTENANCE

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Mechanics or related field (or equivalent work experience)
• Four years’ experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment powered by diesel or natural gas
• Knowledge of light wheeled (utility/non-revenue) gasoline, diesel, and natural gas powered vehicles
• Familiarity with automated maintenance management systems and automated inventory control systems
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Familiarity with desktop computers and standard operating programs

Responsibilities

• Supervises and coordinates the work of maintenance personnel in preventive maintenance, inspection, overhaul, servicing, and repair of revenue and non-revenue fleets
• Assists in troubleshooting vehicles and ensures proper use of test, metering, and diagnostic equipment
• Instructs employees in techniques and processes through hands-on demonstrations
• Serves as the first-line quality assurance specialist to ensure repairs are performed correctly and completely
• Prepares and administers time and attendance records for assigned personnel
• Enforces the labor contract and takes disciplinary action as needed
• Maintains property accountability for Authority shop fixed asset equipment within work areas
• Orders routine expendable bench stock and supplies
• Ensures serviceability and stockage of radio service trucks
• Maintains the garage workplace in a high state of order and cleanliness
• Assigns work to and supervises unit employees
• Uses the Computerized Maintenance Management System to ensure day-to-day activities are completed efficiently and cost-effectively within established policies and procedures
• Coaches personnel on proper work performance, frequently providing direct technical assistance
• Performs other related duties as assigned
