Suppression Service Technician - Hoods & Extinguishers

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of fire extinguishers and kitchen suppression hoods to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Perform detailed maintenance tasks, including disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of fire extinguishers and suppression hood systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Inspect and replace parts/components as needed, such as valves, hoses, nozzles, seals, fusible links, and detection lines, to maintain equipment functionality.
  • Recharge fire extinguishers and suppression systems with appropriate extinguishing agents and pressurize them to recommended levels, following established procedures.
  • Install and service fire extinguisher brackets, suppression hood nozzles, signage, and related safety equipment to ensure proper mounting and coverage.
  • Provide on-site training to customers on the proper use and maintenance of fire extinguishers and suppression systems, promoting fire safety awareness and compliance.
  • Respond promptly to service calls and emergency requests, troubleshooting issues and resolving them efficiently to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of service activities, including inspections, repairs, replacements, and customer interactions, using Service Trade platform.
  • Aid in inventory management of fire extinguisher, suppression hood components, and stock, ensuring adequate supply levels and proper storage conditions.
  • Work closely with Service Coordinator(s) to optimize work orders, routes, and job scheduling, focusing on efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, always adhering to safety guidelines, protocols, and procedures.
  • Stay updated on the latest fire safety technologies, regulations, and best practices for both fire extinguishers and kitchen suppression systems.
  • Perform semi-annual and annual inspections of kitchen suppression systems, including functional testing and discharge simulations when required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in fire protection or related field preferred. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods. Must possess a valid OSHA 10 certification. Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.

Qualifications

Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Must have excellent organizational and time management skills. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Skills

Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues. Strong customer service skills and ability to train others. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of NFPA standards and local building codes.

Pay

$20-$25 per hour, depending on experience.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, typically 8am-4pm, with some evening and weekend work required as needed.
