Support Worker
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Supporting with Michael’s hobbies and interests - he likes to visit the local burger bar and nearby restaurants
- To support Michael become more active, to include visits to the gym and dog walking
- S supporting to manage paperwork and organisation skills
- Maximise Michael’s opportunities and promote his independence
- Working with patience, tact, understanding, warmth and compassion

Skills and Behaviors
- Must be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided)
- Experience with working with individuals who have difficulties with motivation and initiation
- Experience of working with disability
- Confident and comfortable working in Michael’s own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of him and his family

About the Role
Michael, born in 1977, and lives with his fiancé, two children and two dogs. Michael loves 'old bangers' and has been known to buy and sell them frequently! He loves tinkering with old cars and in the past, he enjoyed horse riding.
Michael has Achondroplasia, which he has had from birth and an incomplete spinal cord Injury. He finds that he has reduced mobility, stamina and is unable to climb stairs. He also has reduced motivation, initiation and needs support at times to reason through decisions that need to be made. He finds it difficult to establish a routine and get out of his property on a regular basis. He would like to get involved in hobbies and leisure of his choice at home and in the community and feel more independent.
Pay and Schedule
- £15.00 per hour weekdays
- £16.00 per hour, weekends and bank holidays
