The Goddard School located in Rockville, MD is seeking a dependable, flexible, and caring Support Staff Teacher to join our team. This is a full-time position perfect for an educator who enjoys variety and working with children of different ages.
About the role
Our Support Staff Teachers serve as an important part of our school community by providing classroom coverage and additional support throughout the building. Similar to an in-house substitute teacher, you may work in different classrooms depending on the needs of the school each day. You'll work alongside our Lead and Assistant Teachers to create safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environments while helping our classrooms run smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Provide classroom coverage when teachers are absent, on breaks, in meetings, or completing planning time
- Support classrooms throughout the school based on daily staffing needs
- Assist Lead Teachers with classroom routines, learning activities, transitions, meals, naps, and outdoor play
- Engage children in meaningful, age-appropriate play and learning experiences
- Maintain a warm, positive, and nurturing classroom environment
- Follow established classroom schedules and lesson plans
- Help maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and safety
- Supervise children closely and follow all health, safety, and licensing procedures
- Build positive relationships with children, families, teachers, and school leadership
- Be flexible and willing to assist wherever support is needed throughout the school
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous childcare, preschool, daycare, or early childhood experience preferred
- Early Childhood Education coursework or certifications are a plus
- Must meet all Maryland childcare licensing requirements for the position
- Must successfully complete required background screening and employment requirements
- Ability to lift and carry young children and actively participate in classroom activities
- Willingness to complete required professional development and training
