Support Merchandiser

American Greetings is a global leader in the Celebrations marketplace. As a Support Merchandiser you will help people celebrate holidays, each other, and life’s special moments by displaying and maintaining inventory of greeting cards, gift‑wrap accessories, party goods, plush items, and more across various retail locations.

Pay

The starting pay is $15.30 per hour with two scheduled increases during the first year of employment. After 6 months the rate increases to $16.20, and after 1 year to $17.00. Rates are subject to change based on work location.

Schedule

The average weekly hours are 6 hours, increasing to about 12 hours per week around holidays. Availability is needed for multiple consecutive days, daytime hours (especially Monday mornings), and occasional weekends the day before and after major holidays such as Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Route and Locations

Service the retail locations at 135 Stoneridge Dr, Ruckersville, VA 22968.

Primary Responsibilities

• Service stores on the assigned route, merchandising and organizing product orders, displaying products within greeting‑card departments and other retail areas, and maintaining organized back‑room spaces.
• Communicate with management about any questions or concerns regarding service or schedules.
• Work in a fast‑paced retail environment using effective time‑management and organizational skills.
• Partner with and build relationships with retail store associates and management during daytime business hours.
• Provide additional working days and extended hours leading up to and immediately following major holidays.
• Assist with store resets, including minor fixture work, product assembly, relocation, or removal as requested.
• Review and plan the weekly service schedule and workload using a company‑issued tablet.
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Access to reliable transportation for routes with multiple retail locations.
• Access to reliable internet to receive critical job information and updates.
• Technological competency – able to learn and use a company‑provided tablet for training and daily tasks.
• Willingness to meet scheduling needs, including occasional weekends and the day before/after major holidays.
• No prior experience required; training will be provided.

Physical Demands

• Work on the sales floor and in back‑stock rooms.
• Push, pull, lift, and carry cartons, merchandise, and fixtures up to 40 pounds throughout the sales floor and backrooms.
• Stand, walk, stoop, and squat throughout the workday; a stepstool may be used for some tasks.
